Something Wrong With My Milk?

Question

Hey ladies! My LO is 6 weeks and we’ve been EB about 90% of the time, with a bottle here and there when I need to leave (pumped milk). However, recently he’s been latching and then pulling himself off while grunting A LOT and whining. The first time I thought it was gas, but now it’s happing more often. He also throws up A LOT. I’m not sure if I’m over feeding, underfeeding, or if something is wrong with my milk?? Should I just give him formula and see if he’s better with that? I just want him to be full and comfortable 😕 Does this happen to anyone else??

Sounds like trapped air-- focus on burping & gas release like bicycle legs. This is really common in babies that age! Don't worry mama!

Very common at this age as they become more aware and develop communicating preferences.  It’s almost always because the milk is coming out faster than they want.  I usually just switch sides.  Sometimes I switch back after a bit, sometimes I don’t.  You can also just try to manually express a little before latching them. 
Occasionally it’s gas, and you can try putting baby in a sitting up/leaning forward position (chest towards legs) and rub or pat to see if any air bubbles comes up (usually with milk, that’s fine).
In my experience, if it’s gas they will kick and squirm their legs and lower half, while if it’s fast letdown they’ll bite or latch/unlatch and turn their head and scream (primarily upper body movements).

It is common around this age. Mine did it and I could hear the gas in his tummy. I learned I had an overactive letdown. It was too much so he’d swallow more air. He eventually got used to it and now he’s 13months old and a pro. They do grow out of that. Hang in there!!
