Can I do this ??

Question

I dyed my hair red it’s fading and I’m thinking about dying it blonde 
Can I dye it brown then bleach it or will it turn some weird color ??? 
What do you recommend I do.

Coloring your hair brown does not get rid of the red. It covers it. And then when you bleach it, youre just stripping off the brown and uncovering the red, attempting to strip the red. But red is hard to strip and depending on the severity, may not come out. 
All in all, i tell people usually if they ever want to be blonde, they shouldnt use reds. 
Ive had clients hair bleach out red everything from a nasty ass orange to salmon pink.

As a hairdresser, red is the hardest to take out of the hair and the quickest to fade. Putting a brown that has dark pigments in it over red and especially if it’s box dye, lifting it with bleach later on is going to be hell. (Most box dyes are permanent) so it won’t want to lift and not knowing what ingredients are in there (not the best) make it even harder to lift. It’s going to be a disaster. I would let it fade as much as you can and maybe getting highlights and going to a salon that uses a bonder so your hair doesn’t get too damaged, bc they don’t sell that. I just had a client come in to get her hair blonde, she did red at home a while back, & black on top, bleached it, and then I had her come in for test strand and this is how it lifted. That test strand (even with bonder) was slightly damaged and the LIGHTEST she could go was a medium brown to make the color even all over. Learn from her! I wish the best.
