Are false positives a thing? I can’t believe it!!

This is my first cycle trying to conceive, I had my IUD removed less than a month ago. Today is 5 days before I’m supposed to get my period. I figured it was too soon to take a pregnancy test, but I was impatient and got a CVS brand early detection test and took it just now.... and it’s faint, but positive!!? Is this real? I’m in disbelief that this would happen so quickly... do false positives happen? Is this really a positive? I need some reassurance!!
