Daycare? COVID

Probably more relevant for US mommas or where there are still high #s of COVID... but just curious what people are doing today with their LO? My husband and I have been WFH since mid March, and we pulled our son from daycare. After quarantining first 2+ weeks, my parents started helping watching him. We’ve been doing this for four months, and it has so many positives and negatives (btw we have been paying for daycare to keep his spot because I thought it would be maybe 4-6 weeks tops). We were supposed to go back to the office on 7/20, but that’s been put on pause just as of recently. It’s our only kid and he has no interaction really outside us and my parents. We were planning on putting him back in daycare on 7/20, but since we now are still going to be WFH and our state is in a surge.... I’m torn.

I want my son to have the social interaction he hasn’t had since mid March. I think we/my parents don’t do as good of a job of teaching as daycare (I love our daycare!), we pay a lot of money to hold his spot with no end in sight, he isn’t speaking much yet (like maybe 3 words if I’m being generous). But he’s created a huge bond with my parents, while not speaking words he understands so much and is able to listen to our instructions, he has multiple bouts with RSV last winter so could have compromised respiratory issues.

My mom brought it up today that she’s concerned. My husband thinks it’s because if we send LO to daycare we won’t get to see my parents (they’re high risk), but I think my mom is highly concerned about my son and us getting exposed bc people aren’t being careful. I’m torn on pros and cons on all aspects, and curious what other people are doing. TY and sorry this is long. 😐 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🤦🏼‍♀️😔
