Fitness to fly revoked
60 days to go in my pregnancy and I’ve had morning sickness the ENTIRE pregnancy. Because I’ve been so weak, my midwife organized my bloods and found that I’m anemic. So, last week I went for an iron infusion. While I felt like I had a couple more minutes of energy, it wasn’t a huge difference. Then yesterday, I was extremely faint and had to lay on my side during my scan. My husband was a bit concerned, so asked for a wheelchair to get me to the car. We only made it down the hall to the elevator before I had a syncopal episode and was out completely cold for minutes and had to be put on oxygen and moved from the wheelchair and admitted into the ward. My husband said it was like a scene from Grey’s Anatomy when the MET alarm sounded. Fluids, bloods, CTG, and a few hours later I was discharged only to have another episode sitting down waiting to leave. So, more fluids, more tests, ECG and I have an Echo on Wednesday for my heart.
I’m meant to be flying for an hour to see my parents on Friday, but my midwife called me today to advise that due to two maternal collapses, the clinical director has revoked my fitness to fly she wrote me last week and the letter has to be destroyed.
Obviously I was devastated, but after a couple hours of planning and being given information that my husband could drive me as my carer, I was actually relieved I wouldn’t be on my own.
Today was much the same. Low energy, blurred vision, BP and blood glucose normal. So my poor husband just helps me hobble around the house when I have to get up from bed to use the bathroom. I can’t even eat unless he’s there to help get something for me. 🙄 SIXTY DAYS TO GO.
