almost 6 years in & no engagement ring. its cool though, i dont mind but sometimes when i come on here i see everyone is engaged or already married & i get discouraged. i also think time will take us there & if its destiny it will happen eventually

My boyfriend knows what I want, and he knows my deal breakers. If you've expressed to him that your intention is marriage and you expect a ring, then after 4 years he should have definitely proposed by now if that was his intention too. I don't know if I would stay with someone more than 4 years if they haven't indicated any intention of proposing. I mean, it depends on the guy, but generally no that's too long to wait unless there's a really really good reason for it.

Yes because I don't care about marriage. We feel we are in the sense of what goes on in a marriage and behaviors and responsibilities. There's just no legal paper for it all.

Depends on my goals and desires for the relationship. I was with my ex for 9 years and had turned down a proposal from him. My husband, we had had an understanding we were dating with the intention of advancing the relationship to marriage and starting a family. Waiting 4 years would have been unthinkable to either of us.

Sure would and did. Me and my husband were in no rush to get married. Proposed at 6 years got married at 8. We do believe marriage is more than paper but it doesn’t change your relationship. If marriage is very important to you, let your partner know how you feel.

Yes, and I did. I wasn't ready to get married after four years together rand neither was he. I'd rather wait a bit longer for someone I love to be ready than to end it and start all over again with someone who may just turn out to need time too.
