Cat moms/pet moms...how are your pets doing 🐶 🐱
I don’t think animals necessarily have like a “sixth sense” for pregnancy. However, in the last week or so my cat has become super needy and it’s making me a little anxious about how she will deal with a baby in the house. I’m wondering if anyone else experienced behavior changes in their pets the last months of pregnancy and if their pets settled down once the baby arrived?
She usually sleeps in her little spots around the house and only sleeps in our bed on very rare occasions (and always at the foot of the bed where we throw a blanket to keep all her hairs in one spot). However, for the last week or so, she jumps in bed every night and wants to lay like right next to me or my husband. We gently shoe her to the foot of the bed but inevitably she works her way back up while we are asleep and we wake up to a cat in our faces which drives my husband nuts because she a loud purrer.
She’s also started doing this thing where if she wakes up and is alone in a room, she’ll meow really loud until one of us calls for her and she’ll come running like “thank goodness I found you!” My husband fell asleep on the couch last night and came to bed at 4am. Well the cat must have woken up shortly after and realized he’d left the couch and so she just starts howling which woke me up thinking something was wrong with her 🤦🏻♀️
It’s such needy behavior for a cat that has never really been particularly clingy. I bottle fed her when she was a kitten because she was too young for regular food. I know she’s bonded to me and my husband quite a bit, but shes 5 years old now so this is a little over the top for her usual behavior. I just hope she doesn’t get worse when the baby arrives.
