Pain med during labour, before epidural

Hi mommas , I would like some feed back on pain relief medication. I made my decision that I will not go natural due to not having pain tolerance . So , before my contractions get very bad is there any medication that can help with the pain or ease my anxiety ?

I will be getting the epidural, but I heard that takes time to get , because blood work has to be taken out to make sure platelets are good and depending if ur dilated to 4 .
