So I used to have a beautiful male Russian tortoise that unfortunately died earlier this year, I had joined a few tortoise group because I was wanting to get another one. I came across a post of a person saying that they wanted a female tortoise for their child (keep in mind that this child is around 9 or 10). The lady went on to say that the tortoise had something hanging out of it which was more than likely a penis which can look very weird if you haven’t seen one. She said that now she’s considering giving it a new home because it’s a male and because she said her child was afraid of the penis 🤦‍♀️. She also said that her child cried and no longer wants to handle it which isn’t really necessary when owning a tortoise unless you need to clean the enclosure or give them a soak. I feel like this is very irresponsible. You don’t give a pet up just because it’s genitalia looks scary. Not to mention again that the child is 9. What do y’all think?
