How do you know you’re over someone?

I got out of my first relationship about a month ago. I don’t think I’m over him, but I have made my peace with the breakup. We were together 4 years so I know it may take a while to get over him but how do I know that I am???
I know I’m not yet because I know seeing him would be really really hard if I had to, am I over him when I think I’d be able to see him? Or is it when I no longer think of him? Do I have to be able to picture him with someone else??? I have no idea ...

You’ll be over him when you’re not questioning if you’re over him or not. You’ll just stop thinking about him

When you no longer miss him, when you no longer think about him when you have a moment of silence, when you’re able to delete all the photos and pictures and text messages etc. when you’re ready to MoveOn, I guess that’s my best advice to you. I was with my cheating ex for five years and we had two miscarriages, so I was emotionally attached big time, he was a piece of shit, that’s just the nicest way of putting it, he used me, he cheated on me with probably half of our state. And even though he did all this, I still miss him every single day. Any silent moment, he went through my head I miss jack ass. Loneliness, desperation, all of these things play a part. I took a year, I worked on myself, inside and out. Things ended with my ex December 2017 by 2019, I started dating again two guys that were a waste of time, one literally told me he just wanted to use me for sex and had no filter or common sense and the other claimed that he was separated from his wife that was a lie. I checked his wife’s Facebook and they were celebrating their 10 year anniversary at an Eagles game so that ended obviously. ￼￼I started dating a guy in October 2019. I caught feelings, by February 2020 I was actually over my ex. I deleted all the pictures etc. and I no longer missed him, I miss the guy I was dating so I don’t know if one substitute or the other or I caught feelings for the other guy and I missed one instead of the other I’m not sure but I was finally over him by February 2020.  I’ve been apart from this guy due to the virus for the last four months only seen him once, his son is high-risk so we didn’t wanna chance anything. I started dating someone else and I’m not at missing him yet but I still miss the guy I am still technically dating I guess I’m dating them both. The new guy knows about the old guy but the old guy doesn’t know about the new guy yet since I really haven’t talk to him much. When a guy makes the minimal effort, that’s not fair to you. I told him I would stay as long as I was happy and the last thing I said to him was I’m not happy. You need to up the effort big time. I do not chase after a man or contact them. If they miss me or want to speak to me they have my number. So new guy and I have been talking it’s Casual for now. Been a couple weeks. ￼ so who knows. Take time to heal inside and out. Journaling, screaming into a pillow or yoga or exercise or daily affirmations etc. know that you deserve better. A man doesn’t complete you or define you or your happiness, you do. You will figure it out one day at a time. You’ve Got this.
