Doctor didn’t find heartbeat at 10 weeks?

I just had an appointment with my OB this morning. She said she usually doesn’t use a Doppler until 12 weeks because it can be hard to find before then. She tried to use it on me since I’m a slim person, but she couldn’t find it, and she told me not to worry, and now I’m worried.
I have an ultrasound in a week. Should I be concerned? I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and baby was fine and had a heartbeat of 129. I’m silently freaking out.

That’s awful that she even bothered trying and then said don’t worry. They should have done an ultrasound after to make sure or not have used Doppler at all. I’d be pissed. I’m sorry now you’re stressing, I would too. But it is really early to hear it on a Doppler right now.

Do not freak out, this has happened to me in my second pregnancy and I was much further along and they couldn’t detect the heartbeat through a Doppler so I got an ultrasound and she was perfectly fine kicking around.

Unfortunately I don't think there is anything we can say that will completely take away your worry.  However, it is a good sign that you already saw the heartbeat at your first ultrasound.  I agree that it is too early to hear it on a doppler and she shouldn't have tried, but hang on.  Nothing you can do to change it and stress isn't good for you or your baby.  Glad you are getting another ultrasound soon to ease your mind.

Did she not have an ultrasound machine in her office??? At my 20 week appointment my dr couldn’t find heartbeat cuz he was moving too much. She ran out and grabbed the ultrasound machine and he was fine.

Do they do imaging in that same office or do you have to go elsewhere for an ultrasound? I’m not thin and my doc couldn’t find the heartbeat with the Doppler at my 16 week checkup so she sent me down the hall for a quick ultrasound and we found it immediately. I can’t imagine my doc sending me home after something like that! So sorry you had to go through that stress.

I personally would not go back to this doctor. That’s a crazy request to ask a mom to not worry in these early weeks. She should have rolled in an ultrasound machine to confirm for you. I’m sure its fine, but I would worry too!

Don’t freak out. We couldn’t find the heartbeat at my 12 week check up but I got to hear it at my next appointment. Baby even was kicking!! Sometimes the baby is just in a weird spot

Normal! They did an ultrasound on me at 9 weeks and did the Doppler at 13 for this reason. Even at 13 she said it can be hard to get and would do another ultrasound if so. Baby is tucked away tight because it hasn’t moved above the pubic bone yet.
