UPDATE: thanks for all your input! We talked with her and she gave us a much better price for our longer trip next month. It sounds like she hasn’t done overnight before so she didn’t know how to charge it. We agreed on a daily rate. All is good now! Moral of the story: negotiate a price beforehand! 😃

My husband and I went away over night for a little more than 24 hours. We have 2 boys, almost 1 year old and an almost 3 year old. We used our normal baby sitter - my husband stupidly did not ask her how much it would be. When we came back home she told us it would be almost $700!!!! We were stunned but paid her. She charged us by the hour. I assumed it would be a daily rate. How do your babysitters charge for overnights/more than one day?! We have her booked for 3 nights for next month because we are house hunting in another state but at that rate we cannot afford to have her watch them!!
