Toddler only wanting dad
My daughter just turned 2 and lately she’s been obsessed with her father. She’s always been a daddy’s girl but she just cries and screams for him until he’ll hold her. From the minute she wakes up, if it’s during the week and he’s working, the first thing she does is just cry “daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy” for a good 20 minutes. On the weekends or whenever he’s home its so much worse. She’s by him the entire time and the minute he walks outside to even take out the trash she has a full blown meltdown, kicking screaming throwing stuff and laying on the ground. It sucks because I’m her mother and I can’t even console her because she wants nothing to do with me when she’s in this mode. When he’s not home she is affectionate with me too but never like this crying for me say if I had to go to the store and he watches her. Is this normal? I feel like she has an unhealthy relationship to him because he works so much or he’s always leaving to go back and forth to the store or working on stuff and when he does spend time with her they have so much fun and she helps him with his projects and stuff but it’s like the more time he spends with her the worse this gets. The worst part is that he lets it happen all the time because he thinks she’s “spoiled” so he just goes outside and I have to deal with her freaking out and when I call him to come back he gets mad. I understand she needs to learn to be away from him sometimes but I also need some sanity. Any tips?! I’m exhausted.
