I have a friend who doesn’t believe he’s the father to this girl’s baby. Her recent ultrasound says she’s 16w1d on 07/21/20. They had sex once on 03/18/20, but she said she hasnt had her period since then. Shouldnt she be farther along or is the ultrasound off?

Sperm can stay alive for up to five days and Implantation can take up to 12 day so yeah it is possible. Ultimately he needs a dna test

Hmmm timing sounds off. I had my IUI on 3/20/20 (so 2 days after her) but I’m 19 weeks this week. She should also be around 19 weeks if she got pregnant around the same time.

Hmm doesn’t sound right. I’d be questioning it for sure. If she’s 16 weeks 1 day, her last period would have been on March 30th (which is a while after they had sex). Her conception date for 16wks1d would be around April 13th, almost a month after they had sex. So I’d say he’s likely not the father, UNLESS the ultrasound tech measured wrong...but it’s very unlikely to measure 3-4 weeks behind.

It’s ok 16 weeks. Doctors start counting from the date you were expecting your period, not from the day of ovulation nor sex.

Considering ultrasounds are just a guesstimation, it sounds about right. My ultrasounds guesstimation length was different month to month, and different body part to body part. But I knew the exact date me and my husband conceived (because it was planned) and none of the guesstimated dates were right.

How is that off?  16 weeks is 4 months. If they were together in March and it’s now July that’s 4 months isn’t it?  Not to mention an ultra sound isn’t going to be right on the money. Some babies might grow faster or slower than others. Every time I had an ultrasound the damn due date would get pushed back. They aren’t THAT accurate to be able to determine paternity. If he has questions about paternity, he should get a test and not say the woman is lying just because of the ultrasound.

That sounds off. They go by when she had her last period usually and then measure to see how the baby compares... 16 weeks prior to July 21st is after they had sex which would mean she probably did have her period... idk sounds like it’s not close enough for him to be dad but I’m not a pro
