My sister in law is having a baby shower this coming Saturday and I just found out it’s going to be a birthday party too for my niece (my other sister in law’s daughter) It’s going to be a baby shower/birthday party. I did bought some outfits for the baby and I told my sister in law about it and she got excited and that she can’t wait to see us. This is going to be her first baby girl because she already has 4 boys so I get why she is excited but unfortunately something happened ☹️. I found out that my uncle passed away this last Friday. I been struggling all week if I should go to the baby shower/birthday party. I haven’t gotten over my uncle passing away and I’m not really in the mood for a party. What you think? Because I don’t want to be seem rude because I didn’t go. I could always tell my husband to drop off the presents because at the end, they are his sisters.

I think the death of a family member is more than a good reason to not go. If she doesn’t understand, then she sucks. It’s hard to go and socialize when you are grieving.

First of all I'm very sorry for your loss. I recently lost an uncle too, about 3 weeks ago. I was put in a similar position. I recently graduated and my party was scheduled two days before the funeral. I decided not to reschedule personally because my mom had urged me to go through with it. I did and I honestly think it was the best thing I could have done. I think it was good for both me and my family. 
I think during times of grieving it's really good to be around everyone you love. I know you said that you do really feel like partying, but I think just going and talking to some relatives for a little bit can really help. For me it was talking with my family and just being around everyone that helped me feel so loved and like I wasn't alone. 
That all being said, I would recommend going, but if things become too much during it all there's nothing wrong with leaving early, it's not rude or anything to be ashamed of. If you wake up that day and feel like you just know that you can't do it, that's okay too. I hope that helps. :)

If you don’t want to go because you are grieving then don’t go. This year a family member of mine passed away and a handful of people missed my cousin’s baby shower (first baby) She was not offended by people taking time to grieve. So sorry for your loss 💜

I think you should go. The biggest mistake we make when a loved one dies is to stop living. I know it can be hard to be happy but I promise you, your uncle would hate to see you sad, stay home, miss out on fun, family and happiness.
