You should do what your comfortable with. If you are ok nursing him keep doing it. If it’s getting old, stopping is ok too. My son just stopped nursing on his own at 11 months. He just decided one afternoon he didn’t want to anymore. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I tried so hard for weeks to get him back to nursing but nothing worked. I pumped for another 5 months and he’s still taking my milk in a sippy. Looking back on it I’m kind of happy this happened. I would have had a really hard time stopping him from nursing if I was ready to be done and he wasn’t. Luckily for me pumping got old and I have a bunch of frozen milk so I was finally ready to pack the pump up. Even though I was ready to stop pumping it was still a challenging decision for me. What I will say is you’ll know when you are ready to be done.

Indeed we are still nursing on demand. I don’t mind it except that he sleeps like shit (always has) and nursing isn’t helping our plight. I would like to try for baby #2 next spring and would like to be done nursing around the holidays. I don’t believe I have a child who is going to self wean, though, so it is going to be tough. It would be lovely for my body to be my own for like a month or two in between nursing and pregnancy, but we’ll see.

He’s probably a little young to understand if you say no, but you can try some redirection or offer him an alternative. Hang in there!

I still breastfeed —about 2 times a day. Not sure if anything is really coming out though. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Mostly just for comfort at this point. When she asks during the day, I started to redirect her focus instead of just saying no, which works well because now I can say no and she doesn’t immediately freak out.
