PGS or not? Need advice!

Hi gals,
We had 7 embabies on ice, now 6 after a failed transfer. We did not genetically test them because we did Invitae and Karyotype testing on us that showed we are not carriers of anything. We are both 30. My drs didn’t seem to be too worried, but I’m also sure they are not all normal so I’m curious to hear about any success stories with testing or anyone who regretted testing.
I think our concerns are that it might damage them and also I’m just scared to lose some to being abnormal to be honest (which I know is silly because it will be more stressful time consuming and expensive in the long run if we transfer an abnormal). It was just so hard to get to this point, the thought of the number going down scares me. 
Appreciate any advice!!

I ended up with 4 frozen embryos after my retrieval at age 34.  We opted not to test.  Two of those embryos have been transferred back: one is a healthy 16 month old boy and I’m 22 weeks pregnant with the second! Just wanted to share a success story!! Good luck to you!

PGS testing won't tell you if you've passed down any genetic disorders, that is actually a different test. The fact that you and your husband are not carrying any known disorders should not factor into your decision. The PGS will tell you if there are chromosomal abnormalities (includung down syndrome). PGS may help you narrow down which ones to transfer because your clinic will likely not transfer any abnormal embryos. The abnormal embryos are not as likely to be successful, so it may save you from a transfer that would have failed. However, just because an embryo is normal doesn't mean it will be successful. Damaging an embryo when biopsying can happen, but it is very rare. I am not sure about testing embryos that are already frozen so you may want to ask your doctor about that. Some doctors will say PGS is not necessary if you are young and you have no history of miscarriage. There is really no wrong answer here just different approaches. It is a tough decision, but I would go with your gut given all the information you have. 
For me personally, my doctor said I did not need it, but I still took it into serious consideration. I ended up not doing the test because I only had one embryo. I had a frozen transfer, but it failed. I don't regret my decision not to test.

Everyone’s opinions are always going to be different, just go with your gut and heart. 
I’m 28 no health issues what so ever we are male factor. Had 9 on ice used up 5 total with 3 failed frozen transfers (we sent 1 out after my D&c and came out abnormal). I have 4 left, we decided to do another cycle with PGS testing this time and today was my retrieval, we will be sending out those with my 4 remaining as well! I’ve done blood work and everything turned out great our next step is an era before transferring a PGS tested embryo. For me my dr told me I didn’t need PGS due to age health etc in the beginning, and now I wish I could have done it.. but maybe I’ve used up all my bad embryos already and the remaining 4 are healthy but we won’t know until another 2 weeks! Lol

I did not test and it worked for me. Personally if I were you I wouldn’t test because you are both young and I would be afraid to throw away perfectly good embryos that may show up as abnormal when not or that may self repair as dna has repair mechanisms. I’m sure there are women here who will be triggered because they want to feel like all that money and energy they spent on testing is worth it, I constantly here stories of rested embryos failing so just because you test youre not ruling that out.

I don’t know anything about testing after they’ve been frozen. But my husband and I have no issues either and we are both fairly young (32) and we only had two embryos. One was normal and one was missing a chromosome at one level and had an extra chromosome at another level. 
I don’t remember which levels, but When we looked it up it meant the embryo probably would have failed to implant or if it did implant the baby would have had severe cognitive delays and possible cardiac malformations etc and was unlikely to live long past birth. 
It’s not just to pick up hereditary things but also just “accidental” problems since the human reproductive system isn’t 100%. 
I’m def glad we did the test to know for sure. 
Its nice to have all the info and not wonder what happened. But it’s a personal choice.
