Too early?

I am 8 days late. Took a test yesterday and it was negative. I was intimate with someone 3 days before my period was due, so it has been 11 days. Was I too early to test? I also got my period twice last month and I am not on birth control due to health reasons.

It was just foreplay between us but I was still concerned. Should I take another test some time later? (It’ll probably be negative again but still...)
