Smegma

This whole time I thought I was cleaning my vagina properly everyday until I decided to take a mirror and look at my vagina to see what was going on down there and I noticed build up Smegma I rinsed some of it off but since I couldn’t see well I took a q-tip, wet it and started to clean the rest away is that bad?
