TTC and husband lost his job

Stacie

Hello friends. My husband and I were just married in the end of February and decided a few months ago to start trying to grow our family. I stopped seasonique (prescribed for endometriosis) in the middle of June and had a very strong ovulation strip positive on my birthday 7/26. This is only our first month trying so I know my chances are low that I’m actually pregnant. I’m 7 DPO at this point. I plan on taking a test on weds (8/5- 5 days pre mensuration) and the again at my first missed period day on the 10th. I’ve been planning on a fun way to surprised my husband if and when we find out we’re pregnant. What else can you do to keep yourself busy during the TWW? I’m planning on proposing “becoming a dad” to him and having a friend photograph the event.

But then came the plot twist. He was terminated from his job on Friday for no fault of his own. Let’s just call it what it is, an indirect COVID Lay-off. Unfortunately, this also meant we lost health insurance on that day because it was the 31st. We have reserves for rent, an HSA we can use to pay COBRA and he’s already been to 1 interview and has several more lined up. We just met our 3k deductible too so I really don’t want to loose that plan. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed about it. I’d also be lying if I said I didn’t still want to find out I was pregnant this month. I’m 36 so my time to have babies is limited. I also have the endometriosis working against me. I’m terrified it’s going to come back with every month that we don’t conceive.

I just felt the need to vent to a group of people who understand exactly the position I’m in. I also wonder:

1) has anyone else had endo reoccur after surgery and while TTC?

2) Does anyone know of any independent health plans that have good coverage, allow you to see whoever you want and the deductibles/premiums are within reason?

I know it’s going to be more expensive. My job doesn’t even offer it because it’s just me and my veterinarian in our small business. Just trying to figure out what to do after cobra. I’m hesitant to get on a new plan with his new job for consistency sake (in case we get pregnant.)

I really appreciate your time and insight. Wishing you all the best and lots of good baby juju!
