I have a question about life insurance...

My husband and I do have life insurance policies through our jobs, but we are welcoming a second baby this fall and we’d like to get additional life insurance. I have a call in to someone, but in the meantime I’d like to hear your opinions/experiences.

Did you choose whole life or term life insurance and why that one over the other?

A little background...we own a home, we each a have 401k/403b, have investments and both have pensions.
