One month old feeding question - formula

Lindsey

Hey! Our little guy just turned a month old on the 1st and is an eating machine. We were giving him the dr recommendation of 2-3 oz every 2-3 hours. But we was eating It pretty quickly and then after 30 minutes or so would be screaming and eating his hands like he needed more. So for the past 2 weeks he has been eating 4-5oz every 4-5hours and is sleeping and awake the appropriate amount of time . Over the past week he’s been getting super frustrated while eating and just swallowing air. He burps and then is back to eatIng. No gas issues once he’s done eating either. So I called the doctor today asking for recommendations on helping him with the swallowing air thing. She basically told me that he needs to be eating 2-3 ounces at every feeding and no more. And to feed him 2.5oz of formula per pound he weighs per day. He is 11lbs so he should be eating 27.5 oz per day he is eating that per day just more spread out (doing the 4-5oz bottles) and not in 2-3 hour periods. To me I was saying the exact same thing to her and she was saying to me. But she was very rude and just kept saying he can’t eat more then 3oz at a time. Am I thinking about this the wrong way?? If he’s showing signs of hunger shouldn’t those needs be met? If he’s getting the appropriate amount of ounces per day what is the issue?? Should I knock down the amount he’s being fed even though he will be hungry still??
