If you are breastfeeding, are you supposed to limit caffeine intake?

Supposed to? Who knows. With the quality of sleep I’m getting, coffee is needed in order to be awake enough to care for my baby. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I noticed when I was breastfeeding that if I drunk a lot of coke then baby wouldn’t sleep as much or for as long as she normally would. 
The same as spicy food did give her a tummy ache even tho in the uk were told spicy foods are ok if breastfeeding

I believe you should limit to under 300mg. And some babies are extra sensitive. My son isn't but my friend can't have more than one caffeinated drink or else her son won't nap lol

I do but I don’t drink much caffeine normally (hate coffee so just a soda sometimes). Our son was super sensitive to caffeine. I had a mini Mountain Dew and he was so fussy that night. I tried it again a few weeks later and same response, so I stopped. Not going to try it with our daughter.

The Lactation coach said limit caffeine because too much will dry out your milk supply. I drink a cup coffee every other day

I was having a quadruple espresso with my son and he was super cranky. My lactation consultant told me to limit to 300mg (same as pregnancy) and he calmed down. I think if they aren’t cranky and are sleeping ok it should be fine, but personally I would limit at least at first

If your baby is sensitive, you should limit it. Of more concern is staying really well hydrated and remembering to drink enough water instead of reaching for coffee each time.
