I have been with my boyfriend for nearly 3 years. We’re both in our mid 30s. He lives right over an hour away and his house needs a good bit of work to sell. We’ve discussed him moving in with me and we’ve discussed marriage a lot. The problem is it seems he has no drive to do what needs to be done. His dad has offered fronting him the money for all the repairs to his house and he can pay him back when the house sells. There is enough equity in the house that he should be able to pay his dad back and still have some profit from the house. Most of the work that can be done right now needs to be hired out and they have someone they trust and he wouldn’t even have to be home yet he still doesn’t ask his dad about getting started.

We’ve been talking about moving in together for nearly 2 years. I just think how long is too long to wait for something that may never happen?
