Baby shower or sprinkle for boy #2?

So for my son we had a baby shower and I received loads of clothes and diapers. I still have some of the clothes but all the "baby gear" (bath tub, bassinet, swings, etc.) Was all hand me down from my SIL. When she got pregnant again we gave it all back to her since she needed it but now we don't have anything except literally a million swaddles and bibs. My son is only 3 so I didnt want to throw a whole shower and ask people for things or even make a registry but I don't have much of anything, not even bottles or pacifiers. What should I do?

I didn't have one. I know people say, every baby should be celebrated. But I'll be blunt, I don't see a shower as celebrating the baby. The baby isn't even there. It's celebrating the mom and giving gifts. I just didn't feel comfortable doing that when I had a baby close in age. Instead, I did a meet the baby party. This was before covid of course, but I liked that my toddler and husband were just as much the focus, the baby was there so it cut back on visitors, and we didn't open gifts. I did do a small registry only for people who asked.

Neither. Buy the baby stuff yourself. You're hosting a party just to get free stuff which shouldn't be the case. 2nd baby showers are tacky and sprinkles aren't really for gifts so you're not going to get what you're wanting.

Do what you want. I've been to baby showers for 2nd, 3rd and 4th kids. I don't see an issue with sprinkles or showers. You can get good quality stuff from consignment shops and Facebook marketplace. Or other places like offer up. Anything can be bought used except a car seat (unless it was your seat to begin with). Cribs are questionable but as long as you can find parts just in case
