Theme park vacation without baby?

We are getting ready to have a baby in like two weeks ☺️ but every summer we go to universal and next summer we thought about letting baby stay with mother in-law while we go because we also have an 8 year old who loves to do those things. I just hate the idea of leaving my baby

If you do go, I’d keep the baby with mil bc taking a one year old to a theme park when it’s hot as hell just sounds like a nightmare.

We took my son to Disney for 2 days and universal for 1 day in February when he was 13 months. He did amazing, staying in his stroller for the most part while his older sister went on rides with either me or my boyfriend. I think it depends on what kinda of baby you have - some do better in the stroller for longer periods than others. Also, you have to consider what the world will be like next year...hard to say what theme parks will be like by then with the way things are going. I’m glad we went when we did. I wouldn’t go until all this covid bull is over with.

I take my babies with me. We were supposed to go this year when my baby was 11 months. But I’m just used to that, my mom started taking us to Disney when my sister was 3 months old. When we had a baby/toddler in tow it was pretty fun for us older kids because we got to do baby swap and ride everything twice, so your 8yo could end up enjoying it. But there’s absolutely nothing wrong with leaving baby with the grandparents, I’m sure your 8yo would also love having one-on-one time again too.

I would never ever be willingly take a kid under 4 to a theme park. 
We originally went to MOA for the aquarium and light Christmas shopping. Took the kids, 4yoand 9m. In laws convinced us to go to nick universe, and someone was always left out caring for the youngest. Plus he got crabby fast due to the stimulation, and I can't imagine battling the heat as well.

I think it completely depends on how you feel, whether you will be able to enjoy the holiday without baby and how comfortable you and baby feel with the person who will be taking care of them. My husband and I went on a week long honeymoon when my son was 8 months (stayed in the country though so could get back quickly if needed). My son stayed with my mum and dad and he had the best time but I completely trust them and knew he was secure with them too. They took him out doing activities every day and he was totally spoilt! My mum was a childminder for many years so she is also really great at recognising when downtime and quiet comfort is needed.

My parents used to take me and my close-in-age sister to Disney while they left our much younger toddler sisters with my grandma. The toddlers were more than happy to spend the week with grandma and it was a lot more fun at the parks without them. Don’t worry, they joined us as soon as they were pre-school age! My mom’s rule was you had to be at least 3 and fully potty trained to come on the Disney trip.
That being said, I took my own 8 month old to Disney a couple years ago (myself, my husband, and baby). It was fine, but we didn’t have another kid with us. And it would’ve been a lot easier with a third adult. Is it possible for your MIL to come with you on the trip if you don’t want to leave the baby with her?
