Early pregnancy concerns: 7 weeks 2 days

Louise

Hi everyone! So I went for an early pregnancy scan and saw my little bean and heard its wonderful heart beat! However the doctor found that there was a significant amount of "old" blood surrounding the baby. He told me this is something that needed to be monitored, that I could start passing some brown blood which would be OK but passing lots would be a concern. I run the risk of the placenta not attaching properly, or detaching later in the pregnancy. Alternatively my body could just absorb the old blood and everything would go off without a hitch. This is my first ever pregnancy and needless to say I am freaking out now. Any ladies heard of this before and know of successful pregnancies? Is there anything i should be doing on my end to help prevent a loss? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
