Milky mama products

Laura

Hi all! I have a question on whether I should continue using the milky mama products or if i should stop-a little background before you say obviously keep using them 😆. I work 12 hour shifts overnight in the hospital 7p-7a. My LO was exclusively breastfed until i had to go back to work when she was four months old. At that point i pumped so we could give her bottles-but i ended up having a lot of difficulty with the pumping and was getting out less than half of what she was eating while i worked. We started supplementing feeds 50/50 with formula while i was working and i breastfed her while i was home, but i still wasnt making enough to keep up with that. So i ordered some milky mama brownies and the sampler pack. I’m 12 days into drinking one drink and eating one brownie/or two cookies per day and it has helped alot-i’m now breaking even with her demand as long as we continue supplementing with formula. Currently she is 5 months old and eats 5oz bottles per feed (3oz of breastmilk and 2oz of formula) when i’m not available to breastfeed her. My eventual goal was to be able to stop with the formula and be able to pump enough to give her just breastmilk. But i’ve noticed the past couple of days that when i breastfeed her my output has increased to the point she is satisfied without emptying my breasts, so i’m starting to feel a bit engorged during the day. I dont have the time/ability to pump after i breastfeed her. So my question is-if i continue with the milky mama products will my supply continue to go up? Or will it eventually break even? If i am satisfied with where my production is should i stop using them? I can live with the supplementing with formula at my current amount if it means avoiding getting engorged and risking mastitis and such.

Side note: our current schedule when i work looks like this: she wakes up when i get home around 8am and i breastfeed her. Then i go to bed and sleep till around 2pm when she breastfeeds again (my husband gives a mixed bottle when she is hungry around 11am). Then i breastfeed her one last time around 5pm before i get ready for work. She then gets a bottle at bedtime after her bath around 7:30pm, and usually lasts till around 3am when she gets a bottle and then goes back to sleep till i get home when she breastfeeds and is up for the day. At work i pump at 8pm, midnight, and 4am. 8pm is my biggest producing pump session-i usually get 6-7 oz, and the other two i usually get around 3-4oz.

Sorry for the long post, first-time mom and i worry over everything 😆 my goal initially was 1 year of breastfeeding but now i just want to make it at least to 6 months and go from there.
