Are dryer sheets a must?

I haven’t used them ever but know most people do. What’s the purpose?

Definitely not. They contain a ridiculously number of harmful chemicals. I use wool dryer balls to help with the static. I never felt the need for my clothing to be scented, so it works for us.

I'm allergic to them 🤷🏼‍♀️ I bought the reusable wool balls instead- not only do they get rid of the static but they reduce your dry time. And if you want a scent you can use an essential oil on it. They make inexpensive reusable ones out of plastic if the wool ones aren't for you.

I used to use them until my dryer started smelling like gas; turns out the chemicals on the dryer sheets can coat the lint screen on a gas dryer and cause gas to build up.  🤷🏼‍♀️
Have not had that problem since I switched to wool dryer balls.  Another comment said that for scent you can add essential oil to the dryer balls, but I haven't had success with that.   I use fabric softener in the washer.

The only difference I’ve ever noticed was the smell. Snuggle smells sooooo good to me, cuddling up with a blanket covered in that scent makes me feel better after a bad day, so I use them with my blankets.
