Incase anyone is wondering about first Trimester massages...

I am 10w4d and I made an appointment for a prenatal massage not knowing the wives tales and superstitions about it not being a good idea to get a massage before 12w. I made myself extremely anxious over it because it was too late to reschedule my appointment without being charged a stupid amount.

I came on here to seek some advice and it seems 50/50. So I thought I'd share my experience Incase anyone is like me and wondering if it's safe.

The woman who did my massage is a certified prenatal massage therapist and has hundreds of hours of experience. She listened to my concerns and explained to me about the pressure points that are said to induce labor and the areas she stays away from like obviously my abdomen and somewhere around my ankle. She says she personally will do prenatal massages starting at 8weeks unless they are considered high risk or have complications.

I laid on my side with a pillow under my leg, a pillow under my head and my chest. She also gave me a pillow to hold on to. It was heavenly, I literally felt like I was on a cloud. Your not supposed to get deep tissue at this point so it was a light massage but she still managed to work out my knots and kinks.

I ate a solid breakfast before I went and drank plenty of water and brought two water bottles with me. I have felt fine all day and don't regret getting a massage at all. My final say, if you want one, treat yo self and just make sure your massage therapist is licensed in prenatal!
