How do you study/take notes?

Question

I’ve never really found a way that works for me for studying or taking notes, and (partly) because of that, I’ve never put an effort into it really. This year I’m taking a bunch of hard classes (read: AP), so I really need to step up my game. I’m looking for some quick/easy methods of doing so since otherwise I’ll just quit. Can any of y’all help me?

Honestly, I wish I knew this in high school, but I thought I just wasn’t good at test taking:
In college I’ve learned how I get my best grades is to rewrite all the notes or rewrite the study guide! It sometimes takes a while depending on how long, but deff helped me!

Flashcards, rewriting notes, teaching it to someone are great ways! As others said. Also, I would say do not listen to music in the background when you study, and go somewhere quiet with no distractions, if you can. I recently read a research study that saw students learned most effectively when there was no music in the background. Not just a certain type, but none at all. I was always big into music while studying, but looking back, yeah it clouds your brain when you're trying to focus. And when you go to take the test, it's going to be completely silent anyways, so it's best to train your brain to learn things in the setting you're going to be doing those things or taking the test in.

Flash cards saved me in college. They were my biggest asset. Taking good and thorough notes during lectures. Highlighting important things, using asterisks, capital letters, bold, underlining. I love taking notes because I do it in a way specifically catered to myself and the way I remember things. Studying with a partner also helps. But really flash cards and thorough note taking is key.

Im a kinesthetic learner. 
Best way I learned was to act or actually try to teach someone else. With some things I could act it out, get hands on, and/or relate it to what was happening in my life.
