When will I find out the gender?

I’m currently 12 weeks and I have 2 appointments on the same day in early September. They said one is “pregnancy visit” and one “nurse visit”. I will be I think 15 weeks at that time. Will they tell me the gender at one of those appointments or will I have to wait for my next appointment the month after? I’ve heard a lot of people find out the gender at 15 weeks. But my doctor hasn’t said anything to me about when we will find out.

If you haven’t done the genetic testing to find out then you can find out by ultrasound usually from around 15-16 weeks onwards. So it depends whether you’re having ultrasound or not at your 15w appointment. Usually the ultrasound is done at the 20w appointment as this is the best time to check all of baby’s other organs, etc. to check everything is ok.

I found out the gender with my first at 15 wks and 5 days by ultrasound. I had the genetics test done but in 2016 the test they had didn’t tell me baby’s gender only that it was low risk. I found out this baby’s gender at 12 wks because of the new test. 
A friend of mine didn’t do the genetics testing and she went in last month for her 15 wk exactly date and they said baby was to small and not positioned where they could tell. They gave her another week and she came back in and they were able to tell her baby’s gender. I think everyone is different and every baby is different.

I think Drs usually wait until your anatomy scan at around 20 weeks to officially tell gender via ultrasound. If you do the genetics bloodwork through your dr then you can find out as early as 10 weeks. Most people schedule a private ultrasound some time after 14 weeks to determine gender early. 😊

They can find out gender at 15 week ultrasound but I would make sure you schedule it as that so you’re not disappointed if they don’t give you an ultrasound, otherwise you can do genetic blood testing.
