Behavior problem or normal?

I am SO worried about my January 19 child. He is SO aggressive. We’re not in daycare right now, it’s him his 3.5 year old sister, and a newborn with me and his dad at home. When he doesn’t get his way he screams, throws things, hits, and tries to bite. He is being evaluated for speech delay in the next week. But I am so nervous about his aggression. Is this normal? Thanks!

It is normal and may be slightly increased by the potential speech delay you are mentioning. Staying calm while also setting boundaries such as, “you can be mad, but you may not throw things” or “I don’t understand what you want when you try to bite me”. I highly recommend reading articles or listen to podcasts by Janet Lansbury for some tips that will support him through an emotional time.

My daughter does all of that except the biting. She’s actually very advanced with her speech and still does all of that so I think it’s just the age and them learning their boundaries. As far as the throwing goes I always make her pick it back up and hand it to me gently. When she hits I put her in a VERY brief time out. Both of those seem to be working very well so far. I’m still trying to figure out how to stop the screaming lol!
