The getaway: 1

“Esme! Get up!” My mum said as she shook me.

My eyes flickered open and I groaned. I knew I shouldn’t have stayed awake studying.

“Get dressed! Marie will be here to get us soon.” She moved around my bedroom grabbing my bags.

I forgot that was today. My mums bestfriend moved back to the small town we lived in and suggested we all go on a cabin getaway thing.

“Esme I won’t tell you again! Marie and her son Cam will be here soon!” She said sternly. I sat up when she said Cam. I hadn’t seen him in years. Silently I prayed he was still hot.

Slowly I slipped out of bed and went to my wardrobe. My skinny jeans and hoodie in hand. I threw my hair up in a ponytail and did my makeup.

I heard a car pull up and we left the house. My mum sat in the front next to Marie, and I got in next to Cam.

I looked at him, studying him carefully. His sharp jawline, perfect hair and great smile.

We made polite conversation, until I fell asleep.
