How to use monitor?

Question

I won’t be seeing my doctor or nutritional counselor for another week or more, but I got my glucose monitor today. How often and when do you check your blood?

When I was first diagnosed my ob told me to check first thing in the morning and them one hr after meals with goal to be under 120 mg/dl. After one week I saw my endocrinologist and she has me checking before meals and one hr after each of my meals with a goal to be under 140 mg/dl. I would suggest checking at least 4 times per day and keeping a food log so when you meet with your specialist, they will have an idea of where you are at with the kinds of foods you are eating and then they can make adjustments where necessary.  🙂

I test 4x a day, fasting is less than or equal to 95 then after an hour after meals they told me less than or equal to 140 
With my last pregnancy I tested 2hr after meals and my numbers were less than or equal to 120

My fasting is <90 and 1hr postprandial (after meals) <120. I feel its a little more strict than some dr recommendations, but I like my office and don't want to switch. My numbers range from 95-135 typically, so I'll likely be on metaformin or insulin soon to bring it down a bit.
