Blanket in crib?

Question

Is it safe for our June babies to sleep with a blanket in their crib now? I googled it and most of the articles I see say it’s safe once they are 12 months. Does anyone else have any updated info on this from your pediatrician? Thanks!

My baby sleeps with a small afghan. He has done really well with it at night. I wouldn’t give him a comforter or a pillow yet though.

We were told 12 months, but Ivy is a sweaty sleeper so we haven't yet. Probably will when it gets a lot colder.

Our pediatrician said both a blanket and toddler pillow were fine at 12 months.  My daughter sleeps with a swaddle blanket, but usually kicks off.  She seems to sleep better when we put her in a sleep sack.

My daughter has slept with a blanket since about 9 months and does really good with it now 13 months.

This isn't from my pediatrician just from having two girls who love blankets. My now 13yr old has always slept with a blanket, she's always had a favorite and still does. My June baby has also always slept with a blanket. She now sleeps with a toddler pillow and a mountain of blankets that she pick and chooses from, she keeps the ones she likes that night and throws the others out of her bed 🤷🏻‍♀️ when they were first born I never had "heavy/fleece" blankets.

Mine sleep with a small breathable blanket and their plush toys. No comforter or real pillow yet though.

Mine does! My pediatrician said it was fine when we went for our 9 month checkout however I didn’t start putting it in there until he was closer to a year

Mine sleeps in bed with me and kicks blankets off so I don’t bother

We have LO sleep with a very thin plush blanket and toddler pillow since she was 12months. She rolls around a lot and loves the blanket on her face. I used to hover and freak out about the blanket but every time I come in the room to check on her I can hear her breathing still. Now she loves crawling back to her pillow and holds her blanket all night.

I haven’t talked to the pediatrician about it yet but we’re planning on introducing a pillow and blanket around Christmas time when he’s 18-19 months old. He still rolls around his crib too much at this point though.
