How long should you date before getting engaged?

This poll is just for fun and out of curiosity.
For me, I think 3-4 years & living together for at least 6 months is a good margin (& obvs if you’re relationship is ready)

I don’t think there should be a set time frame. You can date someone for years and not feel that strong of a connection and then meet someone who you have a stronger better connection with who you’ve been dating for months.

It really does vary from couple to couple. My first husband and I were together over 4 years, and lived together for almost a year before we got married. And I learned quickly after marriage that I had no clue who he really was. 
My marriage now, we began dating in October, and got engaged in January. We didn’t live together before marriage. He’s my best friend and we have an amazing marriage. We were friends for about ten years before we began dating, so we did just kind of skip over the “getting to know you” stage.

Everyone is definitely different but for me personally I’d say around the 4 year mark is a good spot. I was engaged before to my high school boyfriend (we’d been together for 3 years and he proposed when I was 18). We stayed together for 2 more years after that before I realized our relationship was toxic AF and left. I’ve been with my current partner for 5 years this coming October and we’re still not engaged but we do have a kid together, have a house and a dog, the whole shebang. He’s more of a husband than any other relationship I’ll ever have so I’m just trying to be of the mind that it’ll happen when it happens, no stress 🥰

Depends on the couple. My husband and I got engaged after 3 months. We have had a far more successful relationship than many people we know that waited years to marry. 🤷🏼‍♀️

As long as you want? I was dating my husband for 2 months long distance when I married him 🤷🏻‍♀️ technically married him on our second date (second time visiting him in person). We moved in together 2 months later. We were 21 at the time and have now been married 7 years and have two beautiful children. I was engaged twice before. The first was to my high school boyfriend. We were together for 5 years and got engaged and moved in together after 4 years (at the age of 18). We broke up 6 months later. And then I got engaged to my college boyfriend of 2 years. We moved in together at 3 months and got engaged after a year. I broke up with him the following year for my (now) husband. Every couple is different!

I’ve been with my boyfriend about 9 months now and I was ready to be engaged probably around 5 months. We’re not engaged lol but we’re currently buying a house together. Once we’re settled in the house and know where we stand financially we move on to engagement. Everyone’s different 🤷🏻‍♀️ all my other relationships the though never even crossed my mind about getting engaged. But when you know you know.

We got engaged after 11 months at my baby shower! Then married 1.5 years later! We’ve been together 10 years this October and married 7.5 years! So it’s whatever works for that person. There’s no perfect time.

There is no set time frame. So many factors. We got engaged just why of two years but this was discussed throughout our relationship from the very beginning. 
My husband was going through a divorce when we met so I made sure before getting involved he was open to marriage again. We also wanted to be parents and married before expanding our family.
