How fast does baby drink a bottle?

My husband has been practicing bottle feeding with my little girl over the past few weeks and she is finally taking it! I pumped 3 oz. to see if she would drink it all and she was done in 2 minutes. Is that fast? We use Nuk bottles with medium flow (size 2) nipples.

I think that might be a little fast IMO! Does she seem fine after? My baby is almost 5 months and takes about 15 minutes to finish a 6 oz bottle and we still use size 1 nipples. Too fast can be hard on their tummies and cause gas issues but that’s great she took a bottle though so that’s still a win!

I have never timed my son to be honest. But when I place a 5 oz bottle in his mouth he tries to take it all in one gulp. I try to pace him by taking it out halfway and he screams and wails🤣. I doubt he spends up to 5 mins on a bottle and he seems very fine and happy after each meal

Everyone is saying too fast but I use a size two nipple and she downs 5oz in five mins flat, then asks for boob. I burp her at around 3oz and then back on and burp again before the boob. She sleeps 8-10hrs a night. No gas, so I guess it really depends on the kid. I also do have a very fast let down so that might be why it doesn't affect her

I would say that’s fast. My guy mostly nurses but when we bottle feed, it’ll usually take him as long as it takes him to nurse to eat about 4oz. So about 15-25 mins just depending on the day. We use Avent naturals bottles with premie nipples so he doesn’t develop a flow preference

That’s too fast! I recommend doing paced bottle feeding. That’s what I do with my daughter. I also recommend using a slow flow nipple. :)

I wouldn’t use a size 2 nipple much too fast.
