New job super nervous!
So i just got a full time job as a community support worker for high risk participants and i just completed my final day of shadowing someone to see how it is and officially start with my own participants tomorrow. I am NERVOUS! i am hoping to make connections so that they feel comfortable talking to me about things. But i am also nervous in how to really develop a thicker skin. I know in this field it’s known to have people get annoyed with you, angry, people can get verbally aggressive etc.
Is there anyone else who basically knows the field or hs experience working with high risk people and can provide tips on building trust and connections, how to really look out for your safety as well as the participant, advice, how to really handle situations of verbal aggression etc. It’s all new. Any advice or tips helps a lot that might calm my nerves. This is the real deal as i studied for this job but now that i have it i’m a big mess of nerves 😂
