"normal" toddler behaviors?
I hope there is no judgement here. Let me start by saying I'm a first time mama and everything makes me a nervous wreck. But for a while now I've wondered if my daughter is showing signs of autism. I know it's too early for a diagnosis and early intervention. I don't know if they are normal toddler things she's doing or not. I haven't spent much time around kids to compare. Is anyone else out there worried about their March babe?
If it were only one or two of these things, or these things every once in a while I wouldn't be as concerned. But it's all of these that has me worried.
Here are some things we've noticed:
Won't maintain eye contact
-Becomes obsessed with a part of a toy, but not the toy itself
-Says one word over and over and over again for a few minutes
-If you do something once it becomes routine (example: one time at my mom's house my mom's flipped over a picture frame so LO wouldn't play with it. Now EVERY time we go over there LO flips over that same picture frame)
-Won't willing give kisses, hugs, or cuddles
-Pretends to wash her hands all throughout the day
-She knows words and speaks them and animal when you ask her to but doesn't really make noises while playing
-Doesn't really smile unless she's being tickled
-Follows verbal direction like "say hi or wave" but if she's waved to or you say hi first she didn't do it back
-She knows her name but doesn't respond to it. Like if ask her her name she'll point to herself. But if you say her name she won't look at you
-She doesn't ask others to join in her play or bring toys to people
I might be over thinking it... I don't know... I just feel so down right now. 😕
