Zoe or Zoë?

Question

We've decided on the name but are struggling with spelling. My partner likes Zoe best but I worry she'll end up being called Z-oh all the time. I prefer Zoë. Neither of us really like Zoey. Help!

I think everyone knows Zoe is Zoey.

At least in my state you are not legally allowed to put the umlaut on top. Check your states naming laws, it might make your decision for you.

Here in the UK its normally Zoë or Zoe. Some us the extra y but it's really not needed. I think I would go Zoë was that it the traditional way.

I like Zoë, which is the traditional spelling. I just know some states don’t allow symbols in names, so check that out for your state. Between Zoe and Zoey, I would choose Zoe. I never liked Zoey; it looks so elementary to me. Zoey seems to be the most popular spelling, however.

My sister is named Zoë and we love it. She’s never had issues with the dots.

I picked Zoe for my baby girl I didn't like the y at the end or the dots over the e. I'm not too worried about her being called the wrong thing because forsure whoever says it wrong will be corrected

Our second daughter is named Zoe! Never had the issue of someone calling her Z-OH. We also did not go with the Y at the end because it’s redundant. 🙂

My daughter is called Zoe. We never considered umlaut and Zoey looks weird to me... its just that most people who text me abt her spell it Zoey. We live in the U.S. no one has mispronounced her name lol just misspelled
