Do you have a good relationship with your mother?

I just recently had a daughter for the first time after two boys and it just made me realize how important a mother and daughter relationship is. And made me think of my personal relationship with my mother and i relationship and how it's none existant especially this past year. It's makes me sad but I'm used to her emotional let downs by now and how i feel like anything i do in my life she's never proud of me. I hope to change that cycle with my daughter. And never have her wonder if i love her. Any of my children for that matter. Even if i don't agree with choices they may make in life i hope I'm always able to show my love for them and how i will be always rooting for them.

My mom is my best friend and I don’t know what I would do without her. Her relationship with her mother isn’t the greatest. Her mother was a drug addict all her life but she didn’t let that type of upbringing influence how she would be as a parent and I’m so thankful.

My mom and I have had ups and downs throughout the years, but through it all she has always tried to understand me and where I am coming from, even if she doesn’t get it or I’m different than what she expected. And she has taught me to treat her the same way.  It is a close, honest, nurturing relationship!

My mom is my best friend and biggest supporter. I have 2 boys and we don’t really want another. It makes me sad though because I wanted what my mom and I have with my own daughter. I want to try again but I also feel like I should just be happy with my boys.

I hope my next child is a girl so that I can have a healthy and positive mother/daughter relationship. While I talk to my mom occasionally, she is bipolar and currently not taking medication. She is also verbally/mentally abusive. :/

My mom is my best friend. My sister and I both have a super close bond with my mom. We all three love spending time together. I was so thankful when I found out I was having a girl. I want to have the same relationship with my girls as I do with my mom.

I have always had a good relationship with my mom in the sense that we talked and spent time together. We would get in arguments a lot, mostly because I was an asshole as a teenager. Now she has dementia and I think about all those times I yelled at her or fought with her and I just want to take them all back.

My mom and I had our ups and downs. As a kid she always told me we would be best friends when I'm an adult. We weren't  and went through a period of not even talking. But when I had my oldest she moved in with us. I was against it, but my older brother who already had kids convinced me to not turn down the help. I have never doubted my mother's love but both her and my father are very reserved when it comes to showing emotions, and they are even more reluctant when it comes to verbalizing their feelings - I never knew that they had been proud of me growing up, I was anxious and always feeling like I was a disappointment to them. As an adult and trying to look at things objectively I realized these things on my own which helped our relationship greatly, but I'm certain it would have helped if they told me the things you wrote about your live and appreciation of your own child... And for this reason I'm trying to be a lot more verbal about loving and appreciating my children, and being proud of them. I want them to be confident in our relationship and my support of them, I want them to be able to realize when they do something well enough that they should be proud of themselves.
Becoming a mother myself definitely helped my relationship with my mom even more, we have a wide array of topics about which we share the same perspective, if not the same opinion.
