Gender reveal that is crunchy?

I’d like to do a surprise gender reveal for my kids/partner, but we don’t eat dyes (so pink/blue cakes are out of the question) and I don’t like the idea of plastic confetti bursting all over the yard (or balloons). Does anyone have any other more natural earth and body friendly suggestions for the surprise?

Why don’t you put blueberries in the cake for a girl, and raspberries for a boy? I don’t eat dyes either so I made a cake with raspberries and covered it with homemade white icing.

There are tons of eco friendly confettis out there.  Otherwise just do a natural food dye.  You can find them on amazon even.

I've heard good things about beet juice for a natural pink dye. Surely there must be something that would work for a natural blue dye. Flower petals instead of confetti? Color themed foods? Penis or vulva cake if you have some very open minded people in your life.

You could do a smoke thing. I also saw a rubber duck bath bomb type thing. You set the duck in a container with warm water and the bottom melt will dissolve into pink or blue. 
We did paint in squirt bottles. I definitely got the wrong paint and it stained but there are paints specifically for that.
