New cover every time ?

For those of you who use diaper covers like Alva baby or mamakola with reusable inserts ( cotton prefolds for example) and the inserts are the only thing that come in contact with baby’s skin (not the cover) do you use a new cover each diaper change ?

Only on poopy diapers or as needed.

If it is smelly or looks/feels dirty i change it. I usually have better luck when I was using covers for my newborn because the pads were thick enough to stop almost all leaks so I was able to reuse covers more often. With my little one slightly older and drinking out of cups, they tend to soil faster.

I've been using mostly Smart Bottoms covers and prefolds. I only change the cover if it's damp or it was a poopy diaper (even if the cover still looks clean). Side note: I thought Alva and Mama Koala were primarily pocket diapers?

I like best bottoms by nikis diapers. I really like bumper buttoms pocket diapers the best though.

I change cover and insert every time. I have double amount of inserts as I have if covers so doesn't make sense not to wash them along since I will run out of inserts anyway and do a wash. I find there is some pee on the pocket covers even if it most times feels dry, pee went through to reach the insert so I wash it.

New cover every time ?
