IUD right after birth

Hey guys,

I was randomly thinking about my birth control plan/timeline to get an IUD inserted again once I give birth and stumbled upon a few articles online that said that it might be best to get it immediately after birth. Apparently you can get it right at the hospital. Who knew? Lol. I guess the upsides include less of a chance of it coming out and then peace of mind after the birth/knocking it out while you’re already in pain and uncomfortable, ha.

Has anyone thought of doing this or done it in the past? I’m planning to ask my doctor about it at my next appt but didn’t know if it was an odd request.
