How long did your stitches hurt for when using the toilet?

Baby is 4 days old, I tore the top and bottom of my bits so tipping over and touching the floor to avoid the pain isn't an option. I'm using a jug to pour water on as a pee but it's really getting to me now. It's hard to force myself to drink because I'm so scared of using the toilet. I also haven't been for a poo yet, but I did have a big 'clear out' in early labour. Honestly, how long did the pain last for you?

Girl you’d better be on some stool softener!! Seriously though. Also get a squirt bottle to spray your bits or use a sport too water bottle with warm water. That will help you pee. Also sometimes it can help you poo too if you spray your behind. I always add witch hazel to the warm water as it’s a natural astringent. I don’t like the tucks pads because I swear they always drop in the toilet and I’m afraid of messing up our home’s plumbing. This time (#3) I’d say they hurt for 3-4days. I’m 2w pp and finally feel like I can wipe. For my first I tore top and bottom and lots of stitches! It was painful for a very long time.

You need to get a stool softener. For me the pain / burning lasted about 4 weeks. I’m now 5 weeks out and still not 100%.

I had to get stitches as well, I gave birth 5 days ago and honestly the pain is much easier to deal with now that I’ve figured a way to cope and heal it. Use a peri bottle with warm water the entire time you are peeing, it also helps me when having a bowel movement. I use an ice pack with witch hazel pads and aloe Vera gel topped on top of that and it feels so nice on the lady bits!! Also taking Colace 3 times a day and drinking prune juice really helped soften my stool!

Do you have a peri bottle that you can squirt the water instead of pouring it? I would fill the peri bottle full of luke warm water and squirt it the entire time I peed, it really took the sting out. 
Also, I know it’s hard but if you can really pound water and keep super hydrated it should sting less when you pee. The more dehydrated I was and my urine was concentrated it burned like hell... but if I stayed on top of my water and kept my urine almost clear I didn’t even have to use the peri bottle. 
Overall I’d say it took 7-10 days for the burning to completely go away.

My pain lasted the first week, it slacked off after that. But dermoplast, with hazel frozen pads, and a squirt bottle helped. My husband forgot to pack my peri bottle the hospital gave me so I've been using a clear condiment bottle and it works the same
