When to start buying baby items

Hello, 
With Covid and everything we won’t be able to have a huge baby shower so wondering when is the right time to start buying things. We are going on 14 weeks and found out from a blood test that we are having a baby girl. I’m just not sure when the right timing is for us to start purchasing items.

I started around that point! Just do your research and read a lot of reviews. I made registries and would watch for sales and deals. 😊 We bought at least half of the items ourselves since we didn’t have a big shower but it was fine because we picked everything and got exactly what we need! I would say purchase whenever you feel comfortable and ready to. My husband and I are finding that certain furniture is 10-12 weeks out on back order due to covid. So we planned to buy before 30 weeks! To each their own, just do a little research of delivery dates if you have to order.

I started before we knew what we were having. We had the mindset of big things when you can afford them/find them on sale. Waiting for Black Friday didn’t work for us because I’m due 2 weeks later and that’s much too late. We are doing a virtual shower, but we’ve already bought the crib and the dresser and have the car seat, travel system and a ton of clothing and diapers (hand me downs on the clothing mostly but I did buy some —this was after we found out it was a boy.) the baby shower will help us fill in some gaps, but I’m still buying a few things off the registry when I can afford them so I don’t end up dropping a ton of money at once.

For me, I'd start purchasing right away. My last baby, i was totally prepared, with #2 I am not! We still need quite a few things and im 29 weeks. We aren't rich by any means lol so its kinda one big purchase per paycheck. Im sure we will get everything in time, but i don't like feeling unprepared. We have the essentials like clothes, carseat and bassinet.  But still need alot of other things

I would wait until week 30 personally. You could easily wait until around Black Friday and see what deals are available. If you make registries you can get discounts too. Also look for used items if you're comfortable with that. People are always selling gently used baby gear. I wouldn't buy a used car seat though.

Whenever you want to. My son is 1 month and we didn’t start until into my 3rd trimester.
