Terrified of being induced again... kinda my birth story with my first child. đź’•
With my daughter (who is now 2) I had such a traumatic birth experience. I had planned for a natural birth no pain relief, nothing.. I had really bad SPD so the doctor thought it would be best to induce.
So that’s what we did, my partner and I went into the hospital at about 2pm and a few hours later I was given the prostin tablet thing. It’s all abit blurry but at around 11pm they decided to check me and see if they could break my waters. They told me that if they couldn’t then my partner would have to leave until they could. (Hospital policy) luckily they could and it was the weirdest thing!! So much water!! I went and cleaned myself up and they transferred me into a private room.
I started having contractions but they were a bit all over the place so the nurse started controlling them. Not sure how they do it but very impressive. I was all strapped up to the machine and they were controlling the intensity of my contractions and how far apart they were. At some point they asked me if they could put something on my daughters head (while still inside me) to monitor her more closely.
I had no idea that anything was wrong...
A little while later (my guess, around 2:30am) I was 5cm dilated with horrible intense contractions feeling ridiculously hot!! The nurses seemed abit on edge but not enough for me to feel concerned. Finally I was begging for an epidural. I couldn’t take it anymore.
One of the nurses went to get the anaesthetist to give me my epidural. she said that before I had the epidural she wanted the doctor to just check me over first but she didn’t really explain any more than that. She kept coming over and looking at the monitor that my baby was hooked up to...
the doctor came in at about 3:00am and checked me (as they do) and that was it......
Go go go!!
My daughters cord was prolapsed and it was a BIG emergency!!! Apparently they only have about 6 minutes of realising it’s prolapsed to getting the baby out safely.. she rang the buzzer thing to announce it was an emergency and off I went to theatre for an emergency c section. The last thing I remember was looking up and seeing my doctor smiling at me he said “don’t worry I’m going to look after both of you” and that was it I was sleeping.
My baby girl was born at 3:10am by emergency c section she is completely healthy and so beautiful and absolutely changed my life in more ways than any of you could imagine.
I’ve since learnt that being induced can lead to cord prolapse which was terrifying!!! I’ve been offered another induction this time and I absolutely refuse to have that again.. I don’t know if that was it or not but certainly not worth the risk. I just wanted to share my birth story with my daughter in the hope that it goes completely different with my little man 🤞🤞🤞 here’s hoping 🤞🤞🤞💕
