Unsolicited sexual images

I came across an article from last year which states the UK government is looking to criminalise uncolicited ‘dick pics’ and treat them as indecent exposure. Here’s our government’s definition below:

“Under the Sexual Offences Act (2003) the action of indecent exposure is classed as an offence if:

(a)he intentionally exposes his genitals, and

(b)he intends that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress.”

This only applies to incidents that occur in person, however. If the law is passed, sending unsolicited genital pictures will be treated the same as the above offence.

The current punishment for indecent exposure is case by case, but could result in up to 2 years imprisonment, a sexual offence conviction or signing on as a registered sex offender.
