How soon after blocked tear duct massage did your baby's eyes get better?

My baby is 3 weeks old. I have been massaging his eyes for about 2 days and his blocked tear duct got slightly better but he still has discharge when he cries. How long did you massage your baby's eyes until they got better?

Just kept wiping with a warm washcloth, and putting breast milk in there. My son had a “goopy eye” for like 5 months. 😭

Massaging isn't guaranteed to work. Most resolve when they grow and get bigger and it opens up. Our daughters resolved around 8/9 months.

My son’s cleared up at 4.5 and haven’t had issues since. I didn’t massage it but I wiped it gently with a warm washcloth
